Healing From Inside-Out

Therapy is not only about healing your broken parts. More so, it’s about reconnecting with your essence, your core self. Psychotherapy is about understanding where your possibilities are. To live in a space of imagination and creativity. To be connected to your own potential and sense of agency. To live with emotional freedom from your past. It’s about showing up for yourself, others and the world. To have a chance to create a life that resonates with you and to co-create more beautiful stories with others.

So what is it you’re looking for?

Perhaps you desire a greater sense of vitality. Maybe you’re seeking more connected, genuine relationships. You might be looking for a deeper sense of fulfillment in your career. Or maybe you feel you’re struggling with your creativity. Your quest for healing, wholeness, and happiness has probably been a long one. You’ve tried different forms of therapy, coaching, self-help books, and podcasts but you’re still struggling or not living a life that feels aligned with who you are.

You still feel stuck in various areas of your life. Maybe you lost your motivation and passion. Maybe you feel burned out. You’re not productive in a way that feels satisfying. Perhaps you have many wonderful ideas, but you can seem to pursue any of them.

Why don’t you seem to make progress? It’s possible that your healing journey hasn’t taken you deep enough yet.

You could benefit from a more in-depth form of therapy that can get to the core of what may be keeping you stuck in some ways.

You might describe in-depth forms of therapy  as “inside out therapy.” Such forms of therapy allow you to heal the root of your emotional challenges. The focus is not “symptoms” but rather the origins. It’s not only about having relief from your problems, it’s about living a meaningful  life.

My approach to therapy weaves together psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, EMDR, neuroscience of relationships, and somatic therapies. In my experience, these modalities work with emotional states that are embedded in your unconscious mind and embodied states in a truly remarkable way.

Often, people will come to see me because they need help with what are essentially symptoms of deeper emotional conflicts. If you come to therapy with any of these concerns, know you are not alone:

  • Feeling stuckSilhouette of a man standing with his back facing at sunset over the shallow waters of creating ripples on the surface of the water
  • Frequently emotionally triggered
  • Feeling not good enough
  • Feeling unworthy of love
  • Repeating old stories, patterns, dynamics
  • Frequently feeling insecure
  • Feeling small and insignificant
  • Feeling you can’t get things done
  • Feeling unhappy and not satisfied
  • Avoiding showing up for yourself or in relationships
  • Feeling dependent on or enmeshed with others
  • Co-dependecy
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Addictions

The root of the issue you are most concerned about usually is a combination of unresolved emotional conflicts and/or trauma. An old imprint embedded in the very fabric of what you are controls how you engage in your life now.

These psychotherapy approaches are more goal-directed and more in line with the medical model that focuses on the symptoms. More of a cookie – cutter approaches.

While this may be helpful for some people to make some changes in life, it’s not enough if you really want to understand your unique experiences and your unique self. If you want to create a life that deeply resonates with you.

Or if you have a history of challenging experiences that may have not been integrated with who you really are as a whole. A more in-depth form of therapy that can work with your unconscious and embodied states to make the solid and expanding shifts that you’re looking for.

This is particularly true if you long for a more fulfilling life when it comes to your dreams, your creativity, your career, and your intimate relationships.

A more in-depth form of therapy works because we hide what challenges us the most and what we desire the most from our conscious mind.Waves coming on the shore, writing on the sand saying "life is good"

We have forgotten what we fear and/or desire the most, and buried it all deep into our unconscious. Whatever is buried and concealed from our conscious mind tends to lead to feeling stuck and disconnected from our vitality. It can lead to suffering and many of the symptoms listed above.

When we take on an in-depth approach, symptoms are seen as an expression of your unconscious desires and fears. Their meaning needs to be uncovered, heard, seen and metabolized. Instead of getting rid of them, we invite our struggles to inform us of the deeper emotional work we need to do. They shine a light on what needs to be worked through to liberate ourselves from what holds us stuck, small, or unfulfilled.

An inside-out psychotherapy approach is attuned to your unique experiences, hopes, and dreams, and struggles. It helps you create a fulfilling life that resonates with you. Your life is not a cookie-cutter picture, it’s a beautiful, original story. Your story.

In my view, creating beautiful lives is the most beautiful form of art and most honorable science.

I offer psychodynamic therapy, EMDR therapy (EMDR certified), psychoanalytic therapy (certified), combined with CBT, and grounded in the neuroscience of psychotherapy and relationships. In particular I have an expertise working with creatives, performers, and artists of all kinds – writers,  actors, fine artists, musicians, producers, directors, fashion designers, and creative entrepreneurs. My office is in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. I provide in-person and online psychotherapy to people across California.
